The field of paediatric orthopaedics has seen a major breakthrough and is evolving rapidly. However still in our country there exists a huge gap between the requirement and availability of qualified, experienced, and dedicated paediatric orthopaedic surgeons. In order to bridge this gap KGMU became a pioneer institute to create a separate and exclusive super specialty department of Paediatric Orthopaedics, dedicated to care of musculoskeletal (bone, joint, back, or muscle) problems in children upto 18 years of age.
The department was formally inaugurated on 9th August 2016, by the then Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof Ravi Kant with Prof. Ajay Singh as it's head.
The department has a Vision to:
Achieve academic excellence in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedics.
To provide state of the art quality health care in a cost effective way.
To be leader in research pertaining to pediatric orthopedics.
To achieve our vision we shall strictly adhere to the ethical values and a respectful collaborative relationship with other institutes of academic excellence and perform exemplary work in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedics. Also we would work towards starting MCh course in Pediatric orthopedics.
The Mission of the department is to:
Attain National and International Reputation in Pediatric Orthopaedics in the areas of Patient Care, Education, and Musculoskeletal Research.
