About this app

SynapsAR is an application developed for educational purposes that allows you to obtain information and visualize in three dimensions the main elements that make up a presynaptic neuron and a postsynaptic neuron. It also allows you to visualize in detail the synaptic space or groove and the representation of the transfer movement of neurotransmitter molecules between a presynaptic neuron and a postsynaptic neuron using Augmented Reality.
The application is distributed and activated with a track (bookmark or image). By pointing the camera of the mobile device at the aforementioned track, in the central part of the device's screen, the three-dimensional image of a section corresponding to the contact area between a presynaptic neuron and a postsynaptic neuron is projected. In the three-dimensional image, information about the different elements that make up each of the neurons in contact is also represented. By clicking on the white circle that surrounds each element, you can obtain information about each of them. The process of generation, exchange and assimilation of neurotransmitter molecules and the movement and trajectories followed by them in the aforementioned transmission process are also represented.
By turning or rotating the camera of the mobile device on the track, the perspective of the elements represented will change depending on the direction of the rotation. Likewise, by moving the camera of the mobile device closer or further away from the track, the zoom can be increased or reduced and therefore the level of detail observed on each element represented three-dimensionally through Augmented Reality.
