Really impressed how this series has translated to Android. The quality feels right to there with the other games in the series. It runs well on both my Google Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. The controls would be better if the game made better use of the S Pen and Pixel Pen. Please add Google Play Achievements and an adaptive icon.
Great artwork but as other users have stated there really is far too much waffle/ chat. Navigation by map rather than through the streets seems less involved and not particularly smooth. I think the volume of dialogue would bore much of a younger audience and the solutions to the investigations are a little mind numbing. As a main character Katrielle is a little vacuous and perhaps stereotyped. The London theme was a little too contrived too :( Shame as I enjoyed the original Layton series.
A poor imitation of the earlier Layton games. Navigating is tedious, the storyline 'cases' mostly have stupid outcomes, but worst is the substandard puzzles. The proliferation of 'trick' puzzles where you're presented with a math-style problem but the answer is 0 almost becomes a cliché in this game. I actually have no problem with the port, but the game content here isn't worth anywhere close to the asking price on either mobile or 3DS. Port the old Layton instead!
Was really enjoying the game and was about half way through when the game crashed and deleted my saved game. Angry is not the word! When you pay this much for a tablet game that requires a serious investment in time, problems like this are just not good enough.
Flipping amazing! This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for in an android game! Hopefully this will be a success so other developers can take note of the standard we android users are expecting of our games. I will definitely keep paying for this kind of quality gaming. Congrats! Update : I hate to do this, but I had to take it all back..... Get it when its discounted but never the full price This is more of soulless milking of the franchise. Everything is fine, as expected, but the SOUL of it, the BREAD AND BUTTER, the CHARM is gone. Puzzles is is uninspiring, the writing is like its being written by a first year writer's apprentice. As someone who grew up with the series I am ASHAMED to had ever given a recommendation on it. I guess this is goodbye from me to the Layton series. Thanks for the memories. Good lord is this the level of gaming that can be expected of Android nowadays? I'm getting an iPhone next time. At least they'll care. A walled garden it may be....
Puzzles are fun as always, haven't completed it yet but if you are looking for a Professor Layton game for mobile, this is it. Some of the puzzles may need a bit more explaining in my opinion but.. where would the challenge be am I right? ;)
