Role of Chess Pieces
• At the first move of this figure, the pawn goes one field ahead or two fields forward; it beats diagonally to one field forward.
• The king travels vertically, horizontally, or diagonally to one field.
• The queen can travel vertically, horizontally, or diagonally to any distance.
• The rook may travel vertically or horizontally to any distance.
• The knight advances two fields vertically and one horizontally or one field vertically and two horizontally to the field.
• The bishop can move diagonally to any distance.
Rule of Instant Chess:
Check- A check occurs when a king is under urgent attack by the opponent's pieces.
Checkmate- In chess, checkmate occurs when the player whose turn it is to move is trapped in check and has no legal way out.
Stalemates- Under chess, a stalemate occurs when the player who is supposed to move has no legal move and is not in check. (draw)
The game's objective is to checkmate the opposing king.
