ā“ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Domicile365 track location in the background?
A: Yes. Automatic day counting is the app's core function. With your permission, Domicile365 collects precise location periodically even when the app is closed or not in use. You can pause tracking at any time in Settings.

Q: Why is precise background location necessary?
A: Tax residency analysis may depend on crossing a state, city, provincial, territorial or national boundary. Approximate or one-time location access cannot reliably create an ongoing day-by-day record.

Q: Who should use Domicile365?
A: Anyone with complex residency needs: snowbirds, digital nomads, expats, remote workers, professional athletes and high-net-worth individuals.

Q: How is this data used for tax audits?
A: State auditors routinely request phone, cell tower, credit card and toll records, and the burden of proof is generally on you. Domicile365 generates a detailed, contemporaneous location record.

Q: Does Domicile365 track overnight stays?
A: Yes. Dual-layer detection confirms overnight presence, which is critical for overnight-based residency tests.

Q: Does Domicile365 determine my residency?
A: No. The app records location and performs day-count calculations. Legal residency depends on the applicable rules and your individual circumstances, which should be reviewed with a qualified adviser.

DISCLAIMER: Domicile365 is not affiliated with any government, agency or tax authority and does not provide legal or tax advice. It enables self-monitoring of day counts for review with professional advisers. Only applicable tax authorities make final residency determinations.

To many bugs and very poorly kept up to date. Main screen with day count does not even update when you are forced to login each time. Way way over priced. Should be FREE the shape it is in now. Not sure this app is ever updated as the day count is what the app is supposed to do. Don't waste your time, find another app. I even let them know and still no fix or update. Would not trust in court let along free.
