About this app

Japanese Yen Payment Trainer is a practice app for paying with cash so that you get back as few coins as possible. It is not a speed quiz. Every time you make a mistake, the app shows your coins next to the model answer and tells you in one sentence which coin to change.

■ How to play
1. Look at the price
2. Tap money in your wallet to put it on the tray
3. Tap "Pay"

No time limit, no pressure. Tap only, no dragging. "How to play" is always available from the title screen.

■ Mistakes are fine
The result screen lines up "You" and "Model" as pictures and points to one digit place at a time, for example "For the 4 yen in the ones place, pay one 5-yen coin". You can retry the same question.

■ Why I made it
Fumbling for coins at the register, a wallet that keeps filling up with small change - that was me. Paying so that fewer coins come back is not a knack for mental arithmetic; it is a procedure. I made this so the procedure could be practised with pictures and plain words, and I practise with it myself.

■ About the money graphics
Coins and bills are drawn as simple shapes with numbers, not photos of real currency.

■ Privacy
No login or account. No personal information such as names is collected. To verify purchases and count users, the app connects to Microsoft PlayFab with an anonymous ID at launch; an approximate region derived from the connection is recorded. See the privacy policy for details.
