About this app

Mysterious Naples invites you to explore the city in a completely new way: update your location, search for the Pulcinella icon and, with a touch, reveal secrets and disturbing tales. You could discover the Miracle of the Maddalena Bridge, with inexplicable phenomena on certain nights, or the famous Miracle of San Gennaro, which still leaves everyone speechless. Venturing through the alleys, you will meet the noblewoman of the Legend of Donna Marianna, surrounded by dark rites, and the Devil of Mergellina, an evil entity that seems to hover over the sea.

There is no shortage of stories such as that of the Siren Partenope, who gave her name to Naples, and the Mystery of Gesù Nuovo, where the ashlar seems to hide alchemical symbols. Other places, such as the Palazzo degli Spiriti or Pignasecca, preserve unsolved entities and enigmas. During the Night of San Giovanni, pagan rites mix with devotion, while the Pig of Pietrasanta intertwines superstition and satire. In San Giovanni a Carbonara you will discover esoteric burials, while on the shores of the Gulf the story of Colapesce, half man and half fish, protects Naples from marine forces.

The city will also amaze you with the Curse of Palazzo Donna Anna and that of the Gaiola islet, where the owners apparently suffered strange reverses of fortune. In churches and chapels you will find the Capuzzelle of Sant'Eligio and the Skulls of Santa Marta, symbols of intense devotion, while it is said that a restless Ghost wanders in the Cardarelli hospital. Near Piazza del Gesù, an obelisk could hide arcane engravings, and at the Ponte della Sanità there are stories of otherworldly apparitions. Higher up, in the Quartieri Spagnoli, the Ghost of Montecalvario wanders, and restless presences can be perceived along the Pedamentina.

At night you may come across the Witch of Vico Pensiero or the Janara of Vesuvius, while the mysterious Chair of Fertility lights up secret hopes. Further on, we talk about Munaciello, a mocking spirit of the underground, and the Legend of Posillipo and Nisida, once lands enchanted by nymphs and magic. Among the mysteries of the surrounding area, the Treasure of the Baron of Chiaiano and the fearsome Dragon of Vico della Serpe stand out. Along the coast, the romantic Baia dei Due Frati and the fairy tale of the Nymph and the Fisherman still echo in the waves, while the Ghost of Palazzo Spinelli recalls ancient tragedies.

There are then rumors about the Staff of St. Joseph and the Curse of the Girolamini, among missing books and dangerous relics. Pulcinella could even reveal to you the Stoned Crucifix of San Martino, involved in a sacrilegious act that has remained in popular memory. Each stop reveals new pieces: Naples reveals itself as a mosaic of memories and superstitions where the sacred and the profane coexist, creating a unique atmosphere.

Following Pulcinella, the city becomes a continuous story, ready to amaze you with anecdotes and wonders at every corner: from the devotion for the Saints to the stories of witches, ghosts and curses, everything reflects the ancient and vital soul of Naples, which has always been loved by its inhabitants and travelers of every era. With Napoli Misteriosa, every street is an adventure, and the icon of Pulcinella will guide you into the lesser-known folds of a city that never ceases to surprise.
