About this game

OhGlo Core Gameplay:
Test your finger speed against the glowing "O" as you pull apart the lights to progress through increasingly intense levels!

How it works:
The Core Loop: OhGlo features six lighting sections.

The Objective:
Every time you clear six lit sections, you advance to the next level.

The Challenge:
With every level you pass, the sections light up even faster.

Progress as far as you can before the speed overwhelms you! If all six sections light up at once, it’s game over. What level can you reach?

The OhGlo Story:
So, a little history of this game (or toy) just to let you know why this mobile game was made at all.
I had been working at a Domino's, at the time they were still making bread twists. You'd cut up the dough into the long-ish pieces, stretch and twist them into a ribbon shape. Everyone I worked with always LOVED the stretching. I thought I could turn that into a game. Later that night I went home, and sketched out the design for OhGlo on some lined notebook paper. Later I would send the sketch off to a broker. They liked the idea but said I should make a prototype.
After jumping several hurdles I rapid-prototyped a paper-mâché version of the toy, and with a little help from some VFX I had a visual explanation of it. After posting that on TikTok and getting 500,000 views I thought I did it. I called up the brokers, sent them the video, only for them to tell me it wasn't enough.
So, I trudged forward and began to build a real functioning prototype. I built one, but it was much too big, stuck together with a LOT of super glue, and didn't work at all… well, it lit up at least. I spent a lot of time on that first prototype and it not working was disappointing, but I persevered.
I made another version. This one was the right size, worked well, and I could actually play it. I was able to even have others try it out too. After having several videos hit 1 MILLION+ views I thought I made it. I had a meeting with a large toy company that didn't go well. Again, I still didn't have enough leverage to be able to work with a manufacturer.
So, because I'm not able to manufacture the toy right now, I thought the next best thing would be to make a mobile version that I can distribute to people to play with and give feedback. I plan on updating the game with power-ups, debuffs, and a better-looking UI to then implement into the ACTUAL toy later on. We'll use the mobile game to make the physical toy the best it can possibly be, and hopefully prove that it's something worth producing!
I hope you'll be a part of the journey of making OhGlo an awesome toy!!!
