Peropap is an interactive, educational and emotional support game that allows children to learn what they will experience before, during and after surgery. It aims to make the surgery process understandable, safe and friendly for children. Through gamification, it reduces children's fear and anxiety levels and helps them face the process more calmly and consciously.
The game is divided into three basic stages:
Before Surgery:
In this section, children learn about the preparations to be made before going to the hospital. They discover answers to questions such as what will happen when, who they will encounter, and why certain actions are taken, through entertaining and informative content. In this way, the feeling of uncertainty decreases and the feeling of trust increases.
Surgery Order:
At this stage, children recognize what may happen to them during the surgery. The game gives simple and accurate information about the roles of hospital staff, the procedures to be performed and how the surgery will be performed. Thanks to the fictional characters and mini missions, the process ceases to be scary and turns into an intriguing experience.
Postoperative:
In this section, children are told what they may experience during the recovery process. The game provides guidance on the importance of rest, dressings, that conditions such as pain are normal, and how to get through this process in a healthy way. Thus, children approach the healing process more consciously and positively.
Peropap's contributions:
Children become familiar with the preparations before surgery and feel more prepared.
Knowing what may happen during the surgery in advance allows them to face the process more calmly.
They are informed about the recovery process after surgery and experience the process more positively.
Peropap has been prepared with the contributions of healthcare professionals. Medical processes are simplified with a pedagogical approach and presented in a way that children can understand and emotionally handle. The game provides support to both children and their families, raising awareness about the causes of medical processes and how they progress.
The surgery process can be scary for children. However, thanks to Peropap, this process becomes more understandable, safe and controlled. Play increases children's emotional resilience, normalizes medical processes, and makes the hospital experience more positive.
