About this app

This app brings the rainforest right into your home: With 4Wildlife, you can project a giant kapok tree with its animal inhabitants directly in front of you on the ground in augmented reality (AR) at any time and anywhere - indoors for detailed research or outdoors in life-size. As a tropical explorer, you can discover the giant tree yourself and find information about different animals and their habitat. With the accompanying teaching materials, teachers receive innovative teaching impulses on the topics of rainforest, biodiversity and species protection free of charge. The app and the downloadable PDF are also ideal for the current situation of homeschooling.
4Wildlife is a joint project of the non-profit associations Nepada Wildlife and The Turquoise Change and brings the topics of rainforest and biodiversity into schools in an innovative way. Innovative, as the rainforest and animals can be projected into the middle of the classroom or into the children's own room using augmented reality. This creates the opportunity not only to explore the kapok tree and its cane structure from all angles, but also to get to know jaguar, poison dart frog and co. In the process, 4Wildlife also answers questions such as: What role does the rainforest play in all of our lives? What causes threaten the rainforest and why is species conservation so important for all of us? What can we all do here on site for effective species protection?

You can move freely around the giant tree at any time and from all perspectives. Have you spotted an animal? Then approach it carefully: information boards will now appear to give you an insight into the jungle habitat. You can even project the tree outside your front door onto the floor in full size.

With the accompanying educational material, the app can be integrated into 7th grade biology, geography, politics and social studies lessons, for example. It is based on the federal curriculum and combines global challenges with local action-oriented teaching impulses. The material is available free of charge at www.nepadawild.life/bildung. The teaching concept and the use of the educational material for teachers are explained in free webinars.
