The Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP, https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/education/education-savings.html ) is a long-term Canadian tax-sheltered savings plan to help you save for a child's post-secondary education. The Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG, https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/registered-education-savings-plans-resps/canada-education-savings-programs-cesp/canada-education-savings-grant-cesg.html ) is a Canadian government program that matches your eligible RESP contribution to add grant money for your child (the beneficiary). There are Basic and possibly Additional CESG grants. If you missed some RESP contribution in a year, you may have CESG room carried forward for you to catch up the CESG grant in future years.

For any Individual or Family RESP account that is still open, this app helps you plan on how much to contribute to your RESP, in the current year and in the future years, to maximize the matched eligible CESG grant for your child’s post-secondary education.

Only minimal necessary information is needed to be entered in the guided interactive interface in the app’s Input Tab. Once information has been correctly entered, you can try different RESP contribution amount to run what-if analysis in the app’s Output Tab. Corresponding results on CESG (to be received, Basic, Additional, Carry-forward) in both graph and summary text, and recommendation messages, will be shown to help you make an informed decision on how much RESP contribution you want to make for the year. Timelines and other related information about your RESP plan are also shown for you in the app’s Reminders Tab.

Privacy Policy: This app is stand-alone. It does not log in to your RESP or any financial accounts. All data entered in it stay within it on your device, and none of them goes out of your device.
