Chess Basics
Battle on an 8x8 board. Your goal: Checkmate the enemy King.
Board: Bottom-right corner must be a light square.
Pieces: 16 per side. Back row: Rook-Knight-Bishop-Queen-King-Bishop-Knight-Rook. Front row: 8 Pawns.
Movement Guide
King: 1 square any direction.
Queen: Any direction, any distance.
Rook: Straight lines only.
Bishop: Diagonals only.
Knight: L-shape jumps (ignores blocks).
Pawn: Forward only; captures diagonally.
Special Rules
Castling: Move King 2 squares toward a Rook, then jump the Rook over. (Safety move!)
En Passant: Capture a Pawn immediately after it moves 2 squares past yours.
Promotion: A Pawn becomes a Queen (or other piece) upon reaching the last rank.
Victory: Trap the King so it cannot escape (Checkmate)!
