Because human understanding with reason as a tool for understanding, never gets the facility of ismah (protected from mistakes) as obtained by the Prophets and Messengers. This understanding is known as fiqh1.

Ignorance of the difference between sharia as something revealed by Allah and fiqh as a product of the minds of the jurists in understanding this sharia, sometimes fuels conflicts that occur among Muslims. And the fire is getting hotter when the conflict is spiced up with fanaticism of excessive understanding.
