About this app

In Regensburg only men get a memorial.

There are dozens of busts, statues and monuments in Regensburg that are dedicated to famous and well-deserved Regensburg residents. All of these monuments show men. There are just as many famous Regensburg women who deserve to be visible in the Regensburg urban area. The augmented reality app "Day of the Invisible Monument" deals with these gaps and makes seven women's biographies visible in the urban space.

Go in search of one of the red floor stickers with the eye in the old town of Regensburg. A small map in the app shows you where in Regensburg we have set up these empty "monument bases". If you scan one of the red floor markers with the app, the virtual memorial of one of the invisible women appears and you can hear their story.

MAP: The map of Regensburg city center shows where we have set up empty plinths in the urban space.

CAMERA: As soon as the camera is held on an empty base, a statue of a woman appears automatically. A gramophone on the pedestal plays the biography.

Die Donautöchter is an art project by Tina Lorenz (idea, text), Markus Wolf (development) and Nadine Trautzsch (UX, ArtWork, text). Funded by the City of Regensburg in the accompanying program of the Bavarian State Exhibition 2021.
Speakers: Henriette Heine, Flora Pulina, Eva Marianne Schulz, Mona Fischer, Laura Götz, Judith Werner and Tina Lorenz.

With the kind support of the Cultural Office of the City of Regensburg, the House of Bavarian History, the Jewish Community, the Garbo Kino / Achim Hofbauer and the Regensburg Historical Museum.
