Tarot reading is based on the belief that the cards can be used to understand the reader's current and future situations. Some believe the cards are guided by a spiritual force, while others believe the cards help them tap into the collective unconscious. One of the most commonly used methods is tarot readings; among the most popular is the Celtic Cross reading.

It is important to highlight the purely subjective nature of consulting any situation through a tarot card reading, given that this reading will vary from one tarot reader to another, making it impossible to provide a scientific description of the system used. This has led some people to believe that the tarot is completely ineffective. Objectively, it consists of turning over a number of cards that have previously been shuffled at random and dealt face down in a certain order, and giving each card an interpretation (value or meaning) according to its relative position on the table and in relation to the adjacent cards.

Therefore, the cards themselves cannot "say" anything about a particular subject, since it is the tarot reader who interprets them. The complexity of establishing the meaning of a card in relation to the others means that its interpretation always differs from one reading to another, turning it into a true art. Likewise, this interpretive complexity makes it impossible, in many cases, for some amateur tarot readers to "predict" future events or give coherent answers to a client.
