About this game

BurnCARE Virtual Trainer was funded by the U.S. Army DEVCOM Soldier Center to develop a visually accurate and easy-to-access burn care training app for medics who don’t usually treat or know much about treating burn injuries. This application focuses on three core aspects of proper post-debridement thermal burn injuries:
• total body surface area (TBSA) estimation and calculation
• fluid resuscitation
• escharotomy

In this app, the user examines and treats randomized nude adult patients; randomization enables variable practice and repetition, subsequently improving burn care knowledge transfer to the real world.

BurnCARE Virtual Trainer was developed with the Unreal Engine by Virtual Heroes, a division of Applied Research Associates (ARA), with subject matter expertise from the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research, and data validation using the BioGears physiology engine.

BurnCARE Virtual Trainer is better experienced on tablet devices due to their larger screen real estate.
