About this app
This tool has been developed to support collaborative learning: the feedback and reflection tool called FROCOLE; FROCOLE stands for Feedback and Reflection in Online Collaborative Learning. Using the FROCOLE app you can give yourself and your group members feedback on a number of criteria (max 9 indicators) related to collaborative learning and group dynamics. The feedback can then serve as input for reflection. To quickly gain insight into the feedback, these have been made visual by means of radar diagrams that look like a kind of spider web.
The number of criteria can be freely chosen with three as a minimum. The teacher can determine the feedback criteria. Based on scientific research, a default set of criteria has been compiled, part (5) of which refers to the individual in the group and part (5) refers to group dynamics.
The FROCOLE app has two diagrams. The first radar diagram visualizes the feedback to the individual. In this diagram, you provide feedback to yourself and every member of your group. The feedback to yourself and that of another group member is shown as a line in different colors, while the average rating of the group members is shown as a colored surface. This allows you to see if the group thinks differently about you than you do. If there is a difference, this can be a reason to discuss it during the regular group meetings (reflection). If given permission by a group member, you can also see the self-feedback of your group members. Deviations between the respective assessments can then be a reason to discuss during the regular group meetings.
The second radar diagram visualizes the feedback on the group as a whole. Here you will see the average rating of how your group members have rated the group. During the regular group meetings you can discuss how the group as a whole functions when carrying out the group assignment.
The FROCOLE app was developed by the Open University, Faculty of Educational Sciences and co-financed by SURF. The development team consisted of Karel Kreijns, Maartje Henderikx, Wim van der Vegt. The design and development of the app was carried out by Jaak Crasborn and Gijs Bazelmans of Crasborn Communicatie Vormgevers and XR-Group.
