Zad al-Mustaqni', an abridgment of al-Muqni' by the scholar Musa al-Hajjawi (d. 968 AH), is a foundational text of Hanbali jurisprudence. It is considered one of the most concise and beneficial abridgments of Hanbali jurisprudence, as its author compiled the fundamental principles of legal issues and rulings in succinct language, limiting himself to the most authoritative and widely accepted opinions within the school to facilitate memorization and understanding for students of Islamic law.
The author abridged it from al-Muqni' by Imam Muwaffaq al-Din Ibn Qudamah, one of the most important books of the Hanbali school.
The book is almost entirely devoid of supporting evidence or reasoning, focusing solely on presenting the direct legal issues.
It enjoys great importance among Hanbali scholars, particularly in the Arabian Peninsula and the Najd region. It has been said of it: "Whoever memorizes Zad al-Mustaqni' with understanding becomes qualified to be a judge."
