About this game

Botifarra is the partnership card game of Catalonia, and ButiArena brings it to your phone in English. The nine beats the ace, the dealer names trumps or leaves the call to a partner, and three words can turn a single hand into the whole game: contro, recontro, Sant Vicenç.

WHY PLAYERS FALL FOR BOTIFARRA

♦ The nine is the top card. In every suit the 9, the manilla, beats the ace.
♦ Call it, or trust your partner. Name the trump suit, call botifarra (no trumps, double stakes) or pass the call to your partner.
♦ Double, redouble, Sant Vicenç. Every double multiplies the hand, so one bold call can decide a game.
♦ Skill over luck. Strict rules decide what may be played, so every card tells you something about the hands you cannot see.

PLAY YOUR WAY

♦ Online public room: bots fill the empty seats, so a table starts right away.
♦ Private rooms: create a room and share its code with your friends.
♦ Offline games against bots, saved so you can continue later.
♦ Free or required (obligada) Botifarra, to 51 or 101 points, or any limit from 31 to 301.

CALL, DOUBLE AND PLAY

Four players in two pairs, the full 48-card Spanish deck, twelve cards each. Call trumps, call botifarra or pass; answer a double with a redouble; dare Sant Vicenç when the moment comes. Online, no decision ever stops the table: if a player does not answer in time, the game goes on.

CHAT AND FRIENDS

General chat, private messages and a friends list, plus table chat during a game. Chat needs an internet connection and follows the service's moderation rules.
