About this app

Turn your Android phone into a universal TV remote, media caster, and screen-mirroring companion with Volta.

Connect to compatible TVs on local WiFi, or send infrared commands when your phone has a built-in IR blaster. Controls vary by TV.

Compatible TV brands and platforms

Use Volta as a Roku TV remote or Fire TV remote on compatible devices. WiFi remote control covers Google TV and Android TV; Samsung Tizen; LG webOS and NetCast; Vizio SmartCast; Sony BRAVIA; VIDAA TVs from Hisense and Toshiba; and Panasonic VIERA. These platforms also run on TCL, Philips, Sharp, Xiaomi, Onn, Insignia, and others. Support depends on platform, model, year, firmware, and network, not brand alone. Fire TV control may be limited to app launching on some devices.

WiFi TV remote: Pair on the same network, then use the navigation, playback, volume, channel, source, and power controls your TV supports.
IR remote: Control compatible infrared TVs without WiFi when your phone has working IR-emitter hardware. Coverage varies by phone and TV model.
• TV keyboard and voice search: Type from your phone or use Android speech recognition where supported. Recognition depends on your installed speech service.
Cast photos, videos, and music: Send media from your Android device to a compatible receiver.
Screen mirroring: Share your Android screen with a compatible target after approving Android's capture prompt.
• Custom remote layouts: Arrange the buttons you use most and save a layout for a TV.
• Home-screen widget: Reach supported power, volume, and mute actions after setting up a compatible TV.

Controls matched to TV capabilities

A TV may support only part of the command set. Power-on can require wake-on-LAN or reachable standby. Text, voice, app launching, source, pointer, volume, and channel actions vary. Volta shows controls only when the connection reports the required capability.

Keep the phone and TV on the same WiFi and accept the TV's pairing request. Network isolation, VPNs, firewalls, sleep, disabled mobile control, or firmware changes can block discovery. Volta does not support every TV, model, firmware, or network.

Cast and mirror on your local network

Browse photos, videos, and audio allowed by Android media permissions. Playback depends on the receiver and format; protected streams and some codecs or files may not work.

Mirroring starts after you approve Android's capture prompt. Frames stream over local WiFi to your selected compatible target. Volta does not record or store them or upload them to Volta servers. Stop from the app or Android notification. Quality varies; protected video may block capture.

Private pairing data and transparent service use

Paired-TV addresses, identifiers, and tokens stay on your device, with sensitive pairing data encrypted using Google Tink. Remove paired TVs or app data in Settings. Volta uses Google services for ads, analytics, crash reporting, consent, and purchases as explained in the Privacy Policy.

Free features, optional ad removal

Every Volta feature is available free with ads. The only paid benefit is removing ads. Ad-free access may be an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase through Google Play. Products, prices, currencies, and trial terms are shown in the app and can vary by region. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; manage or cancel them in Google Play. Eligible purchases can be restored in the app.

Check compatibility before connecting

WiFi needs a compatible TV and local network; IR needs a phone with an IR blaster; cast and mirror need a compatible receiver. Features vary. Volta is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Roku, Amazon, Google, Samsung, LG, Vizio, Sony, Hisense, Toshiba, Panasonic, or other TV or platform owners. Trademarks belong to their owners.
