About this app

Guitar Chords & Scales Theory helps guitar players identify chords, find scales, tune the guitar, build progressions, train the fretboard, practice ear training, and study music theory in one offline guitar app.

Use the Guitar Chord Finder to answer “What chord am I playing?” Tap notes on the fretboard, or use the microphone chord finder to identify guitar chords by picking strings one at a time. See chord names, inversions, slash chords, extended chords, altered chords, and alternate names.

Use the Scale Finder to answer “What scale fits this chord?” Find compatible scales and modes from selected notes, chords, or full progressions. Explore major, minor, pentatonic, blues, modal, jazz, harmonic minor, melodic minor, exotic, and advanced scale sounds.

Use the Guitar Tuner to tune by microphone. Microphone audio stays on your device and is not recorded or uploaded. Check standard and alternate tunings, then return to chord, scale, and practice tools without leaving the app.

Build chord progression loops with drums, guitar playback, tempo control, and groove options. Find scales that fit the key, tonal center, and chord movement. Practice pop, rock, blues, jazz, metal, folk, country, funk, worship, modal jams, and more.

Practice with 140+ ready-made progressions, including 24-bar jam-along tracks for lead guitar, soloing, improvisation, chord-tone targeting, and backing-track style practice.

Learn the fretboard by practicing notes, intervals, scale degrees, and chord tones directly on the guitar neck. Use goals, miss review, auto next, position practice, random fretboard ranges, and beginner-friendly difficulty levels.

Train relative pitch with guitar sounds. Practice intervals, chord quality, and scale degrees with easy, medium, and hard lessons.

Explore the Circle of Fifths with major keys, relative minor keys, scale notes, diatonic chords, nearby keys, borrowed color, secondary dominants, and common progressions. Load common progressions into the Progression Builder for practice.

Use the Chord Tone Analyzer to see target notes over each chord in a progression. Learn which notes are chord tones, which notes are scale tones, and why some notes sound stronger over each chord.
