ABALOBI MONITOR is a mobile- and web-based platform that enables small-scale fishers and their partners to capture, visualise, and use small-scale fisheries catch landings data.

Designed to serve even remote fishing communities, MONITOR provides a real-time, secure, and user-friendly approach to fisheries data collection. By digitising and visualising critical data immediately, MONITOR enables informed, data-driven decisions that support sustainable fishing practices and community-level advocacy at all levels of policy making.

• Multilingual, offline-compatible catch landings data entry: Adaptable to local languages and reliable even in low-connectivity areas, with integrated GPS functionality ensuring data verification. Intuitive, icon-based interface designed to support users with low tech literacy.

• Real-Time Data Dashboards: Ready-made dashboards visualise key fisheries metrics so teams can begin monitoring analysis from day one.

• Web-based Administration Console: User management functionality and access to uploaded data and aggregated data visualisations are provided through the secure, web-based ABALOBI Console, accessible by administrative users within the managing organisation.

• Customisable List of Gear Types, Vessel Types, and Species: Gain immediate access to a basic default configuration, then customise fields, languages, and gear, vessels, and species that appear in-app as needed. (Country-level pre-configurations are available for Madagascar, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, and Mozambique.)

• Schema-defined Structured Data:Each activity log submitted via the app adheres to a documented format with consistent field names, validated value options, and stable identifiers, rendering data ready for absorption by third-party data systems.

• Data Ownership and Security: Organisational administrative users maintain control of data submitted by monitors with permission-based access, safeguarding community information.
