He is the hafiz and jurist Sayyid Ahmad ibn Zayni Dahlan al-Hasani al-Hashemi al-Qurashi al-Makki, Imam of the Two Holy Mosques, Shafi'i Mufti, jurist, and sheikh of the scholars of the Hijaz during his time during the late Ottoman Caliphate. He wrote about Wahhabism and criticized some aspects of the school.

He was born in Mecca in 1231 AH (1816 AD), where he grew up and was raised. The Dahlan family in Mecca was known for its virtuous morals, including humility, compassion, mercy, jihad, struggle, loyalty, and tolerance in dealings. They were known for their affection and good reputation. Many scholars and historians have spoken about them, highlighting their merits and their dedication to serving religion, knowledge, and its people.

Ahmed Zeini Dahlan died in Medina in 1304 AH and was buried there.
