About this app

TimesApp helps you in managing the time you spend on your phone by setting time limits on applications.

Why Use TimesApp:

TimesApp is the app you need if you ever find yourself:

• Wasting too much time on social media/games/other apps when you have more important things to do
• Endlessly scrolling your infinite social feeds
• Hating yourself for procrastinating on important tasks but not able to exit apps and leave your phone aside to focus on your work
• Wanting to check social feeds but don't want to end up spending all your time on them.

"Time is what we want most, but what we use worst." -William Penn

Use your time wisely.

Features:

• Helps in Time Management
• Simple and Minimal UI inspired by Material Design
• Elegant in-app tutorials to help you get started
• Preferences for default time limit duration etc.
• Small App Size: Less than 2MB
• No Ads: Absolutely Free to Use
• Open Source: You can help it grow

How it Works:

• TimesApp displays a list of all the apps on your phone. You can create home screen shortcuts for the apps you want to launch with a time limit. You can also launch apps from this list itself if you don't want home screen shortcuts.
• A time limit dialog pops up using which you set a time limit for the app and then the app is launched.
• When the time limit is reached and your app is still being used (usage permission required), a dialog pops up notifying you of the same. From here you can either close the app or use the app for another 1 minute. If the app is not being used at the end of time limit, a notification is shown instead of a dialog (usage permission required).

Permissions Required:

•App Usage Stats: Permission to access your app usage stats is required in order to determine whether the launched app is being used at the end of the time limit. No data is saved and this permission is only used at the end of time limit. The app can function without this permission too but TimesApp is unable to determine the current app being used and a dialog is displayed(instead of a notification) even if app was closed earlier, thus spoiling the user experience.

I've experimented with many ways to reduce unproductive phone usage, but this app and its simplicity is the most effective I've found. If you have the self-control necessary to not hit the "no limit" button every time you use the app you're tracking, your phone usage should drop pretty quickly. Stupidly simple, clean, quick, and free.

I really like this app. It's very customizable for each separate app, and it helps me stay off a couple apps that take up too much of my time. Now, when I reach my limit on those apps and am told "that's enough", or "limit reached", I just go "fine 😒" and get on with something more productive lol, instead of going back every chance I get.

Simple, light, and effective app. Only missing an option to stop you going back to the app right after time's up... Is anything like this planned for the future? EDIT: i understand Android doesn't allow you to stop other apps completely, but wouldn't it be possible to just "minimize" the blocked app if I try to open it?

Hi Iara! Unfortunately Android system does not allow stopping other apps completely and so such an implementation is not possible. A workaround should be published in future updates hopefully
