As food prices have risen by more than 25% over the past five years, the burden of food costs for low-income households has increased significantly.
Reflecting this reality, the Ministry of Health and Welfare launched the "Just Food Giveaway" project on December 1, 2025.
No complex paperwork, proof of income, or pre-application is required.
Anyone facing financial hardship can receive food and daily necessities immediately simply by visiting a nearby center.
Within five months of the pilot project's launch, over 98,000 people across 158 cities, counties, and districts nationwide have utilized the service, and approximately 1,200 new crisis households have been identified through counseling.
The project is scheduled to expand to 300 locations across 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide by the end of 2026.
