Digital Shadows turns any gathering into a social deduction game — no host, no cards, no dice required. One phone passes hand to hand and handles everything: secret roles, night actions, debate timer, and match history.

━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━

5 to 15 players sit in a circle. The app assigns secret roles, runs the night phase (each player uses their ability unseen), and reveals a dawn report with kills, saves, and public events. The group debates, votes, and eliminates a suspect. Repeat until the Town or the Mafia wins.

━━ ANTI-CHEAT SYSTEMS ━━

The biggest enemy of Mafia is metagaming — unintentional cheating through screen time, phone light, or tap sounds. Digital Shadows solves this with four layers:

• Minimum screen time — everyone holds the phone equally long, guilty or not.
• Mandatory dummy action — every player taps the screen, masking who actually acts.
• Strict dark mode — black night UI leaves no face or glasses reflection.
• Continuous soundtrack — suspense audio covers physical tap sounds on the glass.

━━ 17 ROLES WITH UNIQUE MECHANICS ━━

TOWN
• Detective — secretly investigates a suspect's faction each night.
• Doctor — protects a player from being killed that round.
• Witch — heals the Mafia's target or poisons another; each potion used only once.
• Blacksmith — forges a one-use shield that blocks a tribunal elimination.
• Chemist — analyzes a suspect; faction revealed publicly at dawn.
• Engineer — installs a trap that cancels the Mafia attack if they pick the same target.
• Herbalist — cures poison or uses a sedative to nullify one vote at tribunal.
• Tavern Keeper — hosts players, shielding them from the Mafia invisibly.
• The Drunk — redirects a target's night action to a random player.
• The Noble — mandatory escort every turn; blocks attacks and poison.
• Royal Forester Archer — fires one arrow; kills at dawn if target is Mafia.

MAFIA
• Killer — picks the night target; ties resolved automatically by the app.
• Thief — steals one-time abilities from Town roles to use against them.
• Corrupt Noble — grants diplomatic immunity to one ally at tribunal (once).
• Executioner — one kill that bypasses all Town protection.
• Thug — kidnaps a player, silencing them and blocking their tribunal vote.

NEUTRAL
• Jester — wins if eliminated by the tribunal. Fools everyone.
