Association Introduction
The Hong Kong Nurses Association was established in 1977. It is a nurses union formed spontaneously by the nursing profession and registered under the Hong Kong Government Trade Unions Ordinance, independent of any organization. With the aim of "based on professionalism, caring for the society, improving medical care, and protecting the public", the Association continues to fight for the rights and interests of the nursing industry and improve the quality of local nursing services. The efforts of the Association are also supported by the industry.
The members of this association come from different nursing ranks, including enrolled nurses, registered nurses, nurse students, injectors, health assistants and midwives, etc., and are employed by different organizations such as the Hospital Authority, the Department of Health, the Social Welfare Department, private hospitals and Voluntary groups, etc. Today, it has developed into the largest nurses union in Hong Kong, with more than 32,000 members.
