It is informed that the Trade Testing Board was established under Ordinance No. IX of 1980 amended in the year 2002 that delegates functions to the provincial boards. Among other functions of the provincial boards, the functions covered under sub-clause (viii & ix) of clause 1 are enable to “register and license all establishments, organizations or institutions which are offering vocational Training” and; “conduct trade tests and certify skilled persons and trainers who may have received vocational training through any source or acquired the skill through experience or informal sector”.
Further under Sub Section (2) of Section 5 of the said ordinance the Trade Testing Boards were constituted by the Provincial Training Board. Accordingly in first phase Trade Testing Unit (TTU) was established at the defunct Directorate of Manpower & Training, Labor Department with the purpose to test trade, endorse skill and conduct examination under NOSS. In the year 1994 the TTU was upgraded as Trade Testing Board (TTB) and established in the existing promises of Vocational Training Institute, Al-Haidri, North Nazimabad, Karachi. Since its inception the TTBS has been toiling to produce quality skilled workers through formal sector under BBSYD Program, DIT, ADIT and NOSS and informal sector RPL under Skill (S-II) program. Up to now thousands of candidates have been certified in both sectors.
The Trade Testing Boards Sindh (TTB) Started its journey for CBT & A from the year 2016 and was accredited by NAVTTC Later on to Conduct assessment and award Vocational qualification under National Vocational Qualification Frame work (NVQF) for both formal and informal sectors.
Since its accreditation with NAVTTC, the TTBS has so far certified 11,000 candidates under National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF).
