The application was created with the overall goal of translating clinical theory into an interactive digital tool, aimed at comprehensively informing cancer patients and promoting a strictly patient-centered approach. Patients no longer passive recipients of treatment but active participants, capable of self-determination and collaboration in their care while preserving their quality of life.
Specific objectives:
Accessibility to Services: Make existing AIL services in the Reggio Calabria area immediately accessible (AIL homes, home care, solidarity travel, dedicated shuttle service) by mapping their description and location.
Therapeutic Compliance: Provide validated and accessible scientific information about their condition to increase treatment adherence.
Awareness and Network: Develop a tangible synergistic network between the hospital and the community to support patients through the complexities of the treatment journey.
The app actively combats the feelings of loneliness, chaos, and fragmentation that often characterize the hematologic oncology experience, ensuring care that—beyond the purely medical aspect—embraces the psychological, social, familial, and ethical spheres.
A crucial area of intervention is dedicated to caregivers. The sudden and burdensome burden of socioeconomic responsibilities exposes caregivers to a high risk of anxiety and depression. By providing an accessible planning and support tool, the app extends its benefits to the entire family unit, strengthening coping resources and significantly reducing feelings of distress resulting from isolation. The goal is not simply to "cure," but to foster the ethic of "caring."
