OpenAny: All Document Reader

About this app

All-in-one document reader and file opener. Open PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPT, photos, videos, ZIP and 200+ file types offline, right on your phone. No ads.

OpenAny is a PDF reader, office document viewer, photo viewer, video and music player, ZIP opener and EPUB reader in one small app. Tap a file in your file manager, email or chat app, choose OpenAny, and it opens on the spot. No converting, no uploading, no account.

WHAT OPENANY OPENS

• PDF: read, search, jump through the contents and unlock password-protected PDFs
• Documents: DOCX and older DOC files, ODT and RTF
• Spreadsheets: XLSX, XLS, CSV and ODS, with sheet tabs
• Presentations: PPTX, older PPT and ODP slides
• Photos: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF, SVG and multi-page TIFF scans, with deep zoom
• Video and music: MP4, MKV, WebM, MOV, MP3, M4A, FLAC, WAV, OGG and Opus
• Archives: ZIP, TAR, GZ, JAR, APK and CBZ, browsed like folders, nothing unpacked
• eBooks and notes: EPUB, Markdown and TXT
• Emails, contacts and calendars: EML, MSG, VCF and ICS
• GPS tracks: GPX and KML
• Code and data: JSON, XML, HTML, logs and source code
• Fonts: TTF, OTF and WOFF previews with your own text
• Anything else: a hex view that tells you what the file really is

PRIVATE AND OFFLINE

• Every file opens on your device. Nothing you open is ever uploaded.
• No internet needed to read your files
• No file names, file paths or search terms are ever sent anywhere
• No storage permission needed for the file picker, shared files or folders you grant
• Optional all-files access, asked for only if you open the "All files" browser
• No ads, no advertising ID, no accounts, no sign-in

OpenAny collects usage statistics (Google Firebase Analytics) to learn which file types people open and which fail, so the right things get fixed. It covers file types and app settings, never the files themselves, their names or your searches, and you can switch it off in Settings. Details are in the privacy policy.

HANDY TOOLS

• Find text inside PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, slides, Markdown and code
• Print, or save any document as PDF
• Save a copy of any file
• Search files by name across every folder you have granted
• Recent and starred files with thumbnail previews
• Sort by name, date, size or type; list or grid view
• Background audio, picture-in-picture video and playback speed
• Dark mode and Material 3 design
• In English, Arabic, Spanish, Persian, French and Russian
• Works on Android 8.0 and newer

HONEST LIMITS

OpenAny is a file viewer, not an editor. Complex slides and older DOC and PPT files render approximately, spreadsheet charts are not drawn, and RAR and 7Z archives are not supported.

What’s new

• Older .doc documents and .ppt slides now open, with their fonts, tables, lists, pictures and speaker notes
• New app icon
• Tidier home screen menu
• Fixes for crashes with archives, eBooks, saving files and devices without a file picker
• Crash reports you share are no longer empty
