About this app

When I was a kid, my sister and I buried a biscuit tin in the garden. Drawings. A cricket card. A note to whoever dug it up. We drew a map on notebook paper, then lost the map. We dug up half the garden anyway and never found it. That tin is still down there somewhere.

I've thought about that tin more than any photo in my camera roll. A memory that costs nothing to reach costs nothing to ignore. The tin was different because it was somewhere — you couldn't open it from the sofa.

Vantage Point is the app version of the tin.

WHAT IT DOES

• Bury a capsule — text, photos, audio or video — anchored to a real GPS location and to an object you train the app on.
• Scan to open it. The camera checks what it sees against what you buried, and only opens the capsule when it's genuinely convinced — not just "close enough."
• Time-lock it for years. The unlock is enforced on our server, not a countdown on your phone that a reinstall would quietly erase.
• Share it. Give someone the right to find it — at exact coordinates, an approximate area, or scan-only with no coordinates at all, so they actually have to find the place. A note to whoever digs it up.
• Recover it. A recovery phrase restores your vault on a new phone, separate from your password on purpose.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT

This is not a photo vault with a password, and not an email that arrives on a date. Nothing here can be opened from the sofa. Finding it is supposed to cost you something — a walk, a wait, a return trip. That's the whole point.

A letter to your daughter, left at the hospital she was born in, sealed until she's 18. A note buried at the house you're leaving. A message at the bench where you met someone. Coordinates only your closest friend gets, and only if they actually go and look.

PRIVACY

Your capsules are encrypted on your device before they ever leave it. We don't require background location — proximity is computed on your phone, only while you have the app open, so there's no location tracking running behind your back.
