About this app

Alango HARP is the companion app for Alango HARP-compatible Bluetooth devices. Use your Android phone to personalize sound, take a hearing assessment, and adjust supported hearing, voice, and audio features in real time.

HARP stands for Hearing Augmentation Reference Package, Alango’s platform combining hearing enhancement, voice communication, and audio processing. The app supports compatible earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, hearing amplifiers, reference kits, and other products.

### What you can do

• Hearing Enhancement (PSAP)

When the connected device is idle, use it as a personal sound amplification product:

- Select, upload, apply, and save supported audiograms.
- Take a hearing assessment and apply the resulting personalization.
- Adjust volume, tone, noise reduction, directionality, own-voice attenuation, ambient transparency, and supported ListenThrough or EasyListen options.

Available controls depend on the connected product and its configuration.

• Voice Call mode

During an active Bluetooth call, select supported Voice Communication Package profiles. Compare enhanced processing—such as beamforming, echo cancellation, noise reduction, and automatic gain control—with Bypass mode where available.

• Audio Streaming mode

While streaming music or media, select and apply supported Audio Enhancement Package audiograms, upload compatible audiograms from your phone, and save them to the device.

• Device management

Connect to a compatible device and manage available modes. Controls are automatically enabled based on whether the device is idle, handling a call, or streaming audio.

### Privacy and connectivity

The app communicates directly with the connected product using the Alango HARP data protocol. Personalization data remains between your phone and the device unless you choose to import or export a file.

### Requirements

• An Alango HARP-compatible product or reference/evaluation kit
• An Android phone with Bluetooth support
• Bluetooth and nearby-device permissions required by your Android version
• Notification permission on supported Android versions for connection status
• A compatible configuration `.yml` file supplied for your product

The app uses Android’s system file picker to access only files you select. It does not require access to all files on your device.

### Getting started

1. Power on your HARP-compatible device and put it in pairing mode.
2. Pair the device in your Android Bluetooth settings.
3. Open Alango HARP and grant the requested Bluetooth-related permissions.
4. In Settings, select the configuration `.yml` file supplied for your product.
5. Select your device on the home screen and connect.
6. Use the available Hearing, Voice Call, and Audio controls to personalize your experience.

### Intended use

The app is intended for users of HARP-compatible products and evaluation kits, including developers, OEMs, audiologists, and end users. Available functionality depends on the connected product.

Alango HARP is a companion control app, not a medical device, and is not a substitute for professional hearing care.
