About this app

Fill your vocabulary list by pointing a camera at it. Aim at a textbook page, tap the shutter, and Scan Voca reads the printed English words on screen. Tap the one you want and it is saved as a card with its Korean meaning, phonetics, part of speech and CEFR level already filled in.

Note: meanings and the app interface are in Korean. Scan Voca is built for Korean speakers studying English.

■ Point, tap, saved
· The shutter freezes the frame and highlights every word it recognized. Tap only the ones you want.
· For an idiom, tap the words in order and they are saved as one entry.
· Gallery photos and manual entry work too. Fix a misread word and the dictionary lookup runs again.
· Text recognition runs entirely on your phone. Photos are never stored or uploaded.

■ Meanings that work in airplane mode
· A dictionary ships inside the app, so meaning, phonetics, part of speech and CEFR level appear with no connection at all.
· When you are online, an English-to-English definition and inflected forms are added on top.
· Words with several parts of speech are split out, verb senses apart from noun senses.
· Not in the dictionary? Type your own meaning. Audio pronunciation always works.

■ Three ways to review
· Flashcards on an SM-2 spaced repetition schedule.
· Verb forms — read the conjugation table, then fill in the blanks.
· Irregular verb trainer — starred verbs auto-play with audio, hands-free, while you walk or do the dishes.

■ Learn it as a game
· Time attack — 60 seconds of combos and speed bonuses.
· Dictation — hear the word, type the spelling, and see exactly which letter went wrong.
· Matching — pair words with meanings against the clock.
· Trouble words — the ones you keep missing, drilled on their own.

■ Bring a whole book in
Upload an .xlsx or .csv and Scan Voca finds the table inside it. Each upload becomes a label you can quiz yourself on — 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 questions or the lot. Two right answers in a row marks a word learned; misses go to a wrong-answer notebook you can re-run on its own.

■ Habits, not cram sessions
· A study timer records every minute spent reviewing, playing or testing.
· Set a daily goal and study days, and a reminder nudges you — but never on a day you already hit the goal.
· Two home-screen widgets: word of the day, and today's study status.
· Monthly perfect badges in gold, silver and bronze, plus streaks, a two-week heatmap and accuracy trends.
· Turn today's numbers into a share card.

■ Good to know
· No account, no sign-in. Your words and history stay on the phone and can be exported to a backup file.
· Free to use with ads. You get 100 saved words to start, plus 10 more per day for watching an ad, and 10 game rounds a day with 5 more per ad.
· Permissions: camera for scanning words, notifications for study reminders. Nothing else.
· Interface language: Korean.
