How ECOT Works

1 ECOT represents the traceable allocation of 1 kg of CO₂e linked to an identified environmental acquisition or retirement. Thus, 1,000 ECOT correspond to 1 tCO₂e allocated.

A 1 kg ECOT is not, in isolation, an official carbon credit of one ton. The application differentiates payment from environmental completion: a transaction should only be presented as offset after the corresponding retirement or allocation is proven.

Quality and Transparency

EcoTracker organizes assets by purpose and applies eligibility rules to prevent any environmental unit from being automatically presented as offset. The app can display registry, project, vintage, commercial validity, source status, evidence, and retirement capacity.

When an executable quote is available, the source value is confirmed before collection, and the transaction can proceed to acquisition and retirement. If the source does not confirm execution, the final ECOT should not be delivered as completed offset.

EcoTracker is not an investment platform. ECOT does not offer yield, interest, dividends, guaranteed repurchase, promise of appreciation, or speculative secondary market.

Privacy

The app maintains local data necessary to facilitate the experience and sends to the server only information necessary for quotes and transactions. The Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, support, and an external data deletion page are publicly available. The application also offers an internal way to delete data stored on the device.
