Ads are kind of long, but they've improved the interface and expanded the number of episodes available. Still not as good as HBO go as far as content availability. I'd pay a subscription for all AMC content without ads, but that's not the direction they're going, so it remains all about ads and limitations. But given all that, this app is pretty good. Video playback is ever so slightly choppier than the same shows on Amazon prime video.
If the goal was make the app like the TV experience they knocked it out of the park. Unfortunately this is the opposite of what I want from a streaming app that requires a cable subscription to use anyways. The repetitive commercials too often make it frustrating to watch any show. Better to wait till the content gets to another better platform like Netflix or Amazon Prime.
The poor reviews of this app are warranted as of October 2017. It used to work. It does not work any longer on many devices. It seems so unlikely that this kind of problem could exist from such a large company with so many resources to hire competent staff.
How come I can no longer watch shows on this app?? All it does is loads, then when it stops loading it says unable to play at this time!! The app did work fine, but for the last few months it has been useless!! What is going on???
OK, y'all need to look at the app the CW network did even. More and more people are NOT buying TV access anymore. Those that do, guess what? They don't need your app because most TV providers let you access your DVR while away from the home using an app. You're useless for those who actually can use it by requiring a TV provider login. Make it for those who don't have access to TV to watch, I'll happily watch commercials to see TV shows from you.
I was led to believe before I downloaded that you could watch current episodes of shows for free but once you install the app, you find out you need a provider. If I had a provider, I'd just DVR the shows and be done with it. I'm in the same situation as before, I have to wait a year to see the current seasons of Fear the Walking Dead and Walking Dead on Hulu and Netflix. By then, I'll have already read reviews and forums so I know what happened so no need to even watch it at all. This happened with Season 7 of Walking Dead. By the time it was on Netflix, I'd already read that most of the season pretty much stunk and which episodes were worth watching. I watched all the past episodes of both shows on Hulu and Netflix last summer but by the time this current season is available, I"ll have lost interest. AMC should just put out their own app like CBS and Showtime.
