It's a really good attempt with some great content, but ultimately it falls flat. The download button doesn't actually download a file onto your phone; so even though the episode says it's downloaded, you still need a data connection to play the content. Often the app just doesn't work at all, even with a data/wifi connection. Sometimes the only fix is to delete the app altogether and re-download it.

I have held off on giving a review to hopefully give them time to work out bugs on the app. Half the time I cannot use the app due to "network errors" I get on both wireless and cellular data. Sure, the app looks nice and the design is good, but what good does that do anyone if the app is practically unusable. Perhaps it was designed strictly for Apple and a Frankenstein's monster version of it was put together for Android. I am going to have to switch to Google Podcast unfortunately.

Hi Nathanael,
We apologize for the poor experience. The android version of the app has experienced more issues than the iOS version to be sure, but we are actively working to improve stability across the board. A new series of fixes that should help the network stability went live last night (Feb. 28, 2023).

I love AFR, but this new app is buggy. If I listen to a podcast, for example, the controls in the app, like pause, stop, rewind, etc, either don't work or are very, VERY, slow. To change a program or podcast requires me to clear the screen off my either one of my phones, and start over again if the screen shows up at all just to get off the app. This time, I had to untinstall and reinstall to get back on the app. Please, PLEASE, fix.
