Learn to draw anime step by step, with a pencil, on paper, at your own pace.

Every lesson is one character taken apart into ordered steps. You start with a
proportion grid, build the pose on a simple jointed mannequin, tighten it into clean
line art, then finish with colour and shading. The stroke you are meant to add next is
picked out in blue, so you never have to guess what changed between one step and the
next.

That is the part most drawing apps skip. Copying a finished picture teaches you that
picture. Building it up from proportions and construction teaches you the next one too.

Who It Is For

Beginners who have a pencil and no idea where to start, and improvers who can already
draw a face but lose the body. No drawing tablet needed. Nothing to sign up for, and no
account to make.

Good To Know

The lessons load over the internet, so you will want a connection when you open a
character for the first time. The app is free and supported by ads, with a single
optional purchase that removes them for good.

This app is made for learning and practice. The characters are the property of their
respective owners, and we are not affiliated with them. Missing someone you want to

Ratings and reviews

Great for drawing characters. But, no-good to learn how to draw from the imagination. This doesn't teach specific aspects of drawing anime. But, the step-by-step illustrations ARE helpful in figuring out one way (out of many) to 'how to draw anime'. Great for gaining a basic holistic understanding of how to draw an anime character. Can be helpful to the complete noob or someone with some drawing experience, depending on how you choose to use the app. Only downside- character list is too small.

Great app, helped me alot at drawing the anime characters...just wish there were more variations of characters than just one of each. I don't really get why people are complaining about the ads when they can just screenshot each drawing and create a folder for each character

Insanely great app. The ads I've been hearing about are gone. Great choice but some people might get confused and think you have to scroll down instead of sideways. But really great choice. And the graphics are awesome and I'm impressed. So nice and with my favorite anime Naruto.
