The station was founded on September 19, 1977, in Follonica, in the former Ilva power plant on Via Dante. Founded by Biagio Russo and Giorgio Ghini with the cooperative "L'informazione Democratica," it initially broadcast on 93 MHz with a 100-watt system, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering music, news, feature programs, and entertainment.
In 1979, it moved to new headquarters in the former Ilva plant, expanding its studios and operations. The station expanded to broadcast 24 hours a day in stereo, extending its coverage with a radio link to Gavorrano and new frequencies (92.500 and 94.600 MHz). It became one of the most popular stations in the area.
In 1996, it was temporarily closed due to the Mammì law; upon reopening, it reduced its content, but audience ratings and advertising revenue declined. In 1998, it closed permanently, selling its frequencies.
The passion, however, continues: in recent years it has been reborn as a web radio, animating city events, New Year's Eve in the square and the Follonica Carnival.
