About this app

Coptic Reader is a mobile application that contains the liturgical texts, rites, psalmodies, hymns, melodies, services, and sacraments of the Coptic Orthodox Church. It is not simply a static reader; it dynamically assembles each service according to the rites of the current day or any selected feast or date. Each document is generated on the fly with the appropriate hymns, rubrics, and instructions, removing uncertainty in the order of services.

Coptic Reader supports English, Arabic, and Coptic, and allows flexible combinations of languages within the same document. The interface is available in both English and Arabic. The application is highly customizable, enabling you to show or hide liturgical roles (Priest, Deacon, Congregation), inaudible prayers, rubrics, and language layers according to your needs.

The application has been rebuilt from the ground up using modern technology, enabling improved performance, maintainability, and future expansion. In addition to mobile platforms, Coptic Reader is now available on Windows, Mac OS, and the web at copticreader.org.

A presentation mode allows projection of content for use in church services. Additional customization options include themes, text scaling, and control over commemorations for saints and archangels in doxologies, hymns, responses, and prayers.

Navigation throughout the app is calendar-aware, allowing seamless movement between readings, commemorations, and service documents while maintaining context.

One of the best apps to follow the Coptic Orthodox Liturgy, even for egyptians. The Application Rework and the new features added in the last few updates (Like Bookmarking) was a much needed update. One detail: Some prophecies of the Great Fast/Lent seem to be missing. (Especially those of the Pascha Week) I can find them in many of my books from the different diocese, but not here. Would be Fantastic if you added them. May God Reward you for this amazing service.

After the last few updates, the app is unable to keep the bible page I left on open. I have a samsung phone, and I have granted the app unrestricted background access, this worked with the old version, I could leave the app for days and find myself back to the same chapter I was at. Now only a few minutes and the app closes itself.

Thanks for the feedback. The operating system will close apps whenever it needs to recover memory. This is something that we cannot control, but I recommend using the Bookmark feature to achieve what you want to do. After reading, simply bookmark the current chapter and then when you open the app, you can use the Bookmarks menu to navigate to it.

Must have. Coptic Reader is the app that centralizes the wide spectrum of seasonal Coptic literature all into one system. It is the one tool that you can count on, and click on, every day of the year. Essentially had the app installed since it's inception. Excellent work!
