The Free Meals for Kids (“Application”) for mobile devices that was created by Hunger Impact Partners, a 501c3 nonprofit. The app connects Minnesota families with food resource information. Hunger Impact Partners is not a government entity.
The Application was developed to connect kids and free meals, so they stay healthy year-round. Families, children, and teens can locate the nearest food site for a free meal. It lists meal sites, days and hours of operation, meals served, food options and site contact information.
The Application’s navigation function provides directions to the food sites. Application does not collect personal information. It does identify the type of mobile device you use.
During the school year: The app lists information on programs that offer meals for children of low-income families. The meals are available at schools, childcare centers, and after-school programs. The app also lists weekend and holiday backpack programs, which are available at some school sites, in addition to food offered by hunger-relief organizations.
During summer: The app lists sites serving free meals during June, July, and August
Year-round: The app lists Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota locations of Fare For All, which sells fresh produce and frozen meat at up to 40 percent off retail prices and other similar community food resources.
When you visit the mobile application, we use GPS technology (or other similar technology) to determine your current location in order to display a location map with relevant free meals sites and/or community food access sites.
