As to the app itself, I would strongly recommend to allow content to be downloaded onto the device as someone might be easily out of network when in need of info. It would be nice if the app could run on Android 7 devices for poorer villagers. When it comes to the quality of the info, I consider this to be the best information available regarding snakes, spiders and scorpions, especially for species home in southern Africa.

Very disappointed to find that this app doesn't work offline. It's not an app (like Roberts birds) that includes all its data and will work without an internet connection. So that left us trying to ID a snake in the bush with an app that couldn't load snake images (each snake page is a PDF) because we had no signal (i.e. we were in the kind of area where you find snakes). Once back in civilisation, no problem. Worked nicely, but I'd give it zero stars because its neither a real app (more like a hosted web page) and doesn't work offline. When you need it.

Hi Gareth, we're sorry to hear about your experience. Some sections of the app (such as the first aid information and list of snake removers) are available offline, whilst other information (such as the species profile PDFs) will be available offline if they've been accessed at least once while you were online.

I can confidently say the (ASI) app is an exceptional and indispensable tool. My recent experience at the Murowa Mine in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, truly highlighted its value. In just one week, I encountered five distinct snake species. This app allowed me to educate local communities on their vital ecological roles and changed the way they see them. Thank you team ASI 🐍.
