Welcome to Toronto City Schools
The Toronto City School District has some of the newest and most modern school facilities in the area. Each school is equipped with cutting-edge technology that is used to personalize learning and engage students. Our district promotes small town values while offering a world-class education.
At Karaffa Elementary School, preschool teachers are implementing Big Day for PreK curriculum which uses a thematic and integrated approach to introducing students to math, literacy, science, and the arts. The literacy program also includes explicit phonics instruction using Heggerty Phonics Awareness Program, and Wilson Fundations. At Toronto Elementary School, we are proud to offer a comprehensive Literacy program using myView, Heggerty Phonics Awareness Program, and Wilson Fundations. This 120-minute daily literacy class provides students with a solid foundation in phonics and strategic reading comprehension skills. At Toronto Jr.-Sr. High School, students are provided with an array of course offerings. There are over 30 semester hours of college credit available from our own adjunct professors at the school campus in the areas of English, Spanish, Mathematics, Science, and Art.
Students are given the opportunity to participate in several enrichment activities such as Destination Imagination, the Science Fair, and the Close-Up Program. The district has an array of extracurricular activities including academic honor societies, civic organizations, school athletics, and the arts (band, choir, musical, art club).
