About this app

RollBrief is an offline film photography notebook for the settings your camera cannot remember. Keep your rolls, numbered frames and development notes together, then bring your notes back to your scans.

FROM LOADED TO SCANNED
Give each roll a name and record the camera, film, lens, format and ISO / exposure index. Mark it Loaded, Exposed, Developed or Scanned so finished rolls stay distinct from the ones still in your camera. Search by roll name, camera, film or roll notes.

RECORD THE FRAME, KEEP THE CONTEXT
Save shutter time, aperture, lens and a scene note for each frame. Reuse the last settings to enter the next shot faster. Choose frame numbers manually when your negatives have gaps, flag keepers and edit notes after development. A three-shot bracket records under, reference and over exposures together at a fixed aperture and roll EI.

COMPARE EXPOSURES
Start with known settings and calculate an equivalent shutter time for a different aperture, EI or added ND filter. See the calculated time and the nearest standard shutter with its stop difference. Transfer a result into a new frame, then save it explicitly.

YOUR NOTES, OFFLINE
One upfront purchase. No ads, subscriptions, in-app purchases, account or analytics. English, Spanish and French are included. Export a full JSON backup, restore a validated backup, or export frame records as CSV through the system share sheet.

RollBrief stores up to 100 rolls and 5,000 frames in total, with up to 120 frames per roll. Your data stays in private app storage. Export JSON regularly: uninstalling removes local data and automatic Android backup is disabled. Import replaces the notebook; CSV cannot restore it.

This is a manual notebook and exposure worksheet. It does not meter light, capture photos, scan film, write EXIF into scans, control a camera or correct film reciprocity failure. You supply camera settings, film information and development notes. No film or chemical database is included.
Log film rolls and frame settings. Compare exposures. Keep notes offline.
