HopBound is a story-driven psychological horror game that revolves around the surreal mind of Mayumi, a recluse who must journey through an unsettling retro game to come to terms with the ghosts of her past. Through 16-bit horror platformer stages and endless runner levels with gorgeous pixel art, she discovers that her sanity will be tested by something lurking behind the screen.

If I could I'd go 3.5, but I think this is the worst Game of the series. Not that it's terrible or anything, just the first 2 were much better. The controls were good in this the graphics for the most part are fine (imo the enemies looked like bullets) the story was okay, not as scary as the last ones though. I really didn't like the gun addition personally, and never really felt creeped out, I laughed at the horrors sometimes. Ads were bad, I dont mind ads but unskipable 30 second ones is crazy

Good story, with an interesting artstyle and challeging gameplay. If you like difficulty and story you'll enjoy HOPBOUND. It also has a meta style of storytelling, where the main character is playing the same game you are and you have to go inside an app within the game to talk to people. My only issue is the ads because i think they play after a certain number of deaths, and since you'll be dying a lot very quickly you'll be getting a lot of ads in a short timespan. Still, i recommened 100%

Much, much less focused on horror than the DERE.EXE games (and with no jumpscares, from what I can remember), which I totally don't mind. This one's a bit less meta, too. With how much content there is, it's worth $2, which is how much ad removal costs, so support the developer! My only gripes are that there's no player stat tracking (death count & playtime) and the bosses feel a bit too difficult to beat without really spamming your attack, which slows the game and makes the bosses much easier.
