Memory Jar is a journal organised by person. Make a jar for your partner, each of your kids, a friend or yourself, and add a note or a photo whenever something happens that you want to keep.

When you're ready, or a birthday comes round, seal the jar into a keepsake. Replay it one memory at a time, save it as a PDF, or send it to the people in it as a private link. You can also lock a jar until a date you choose, then hand it over as a gift.

Shared jars let several people add to one jar from their own phones, for a wedding, a leaving present or a couple living apart. Everyone you invite joins free.

Your jars stay on your phone in an encrypted database, and the app works offline with no account. Cloud backup is encrypted on your phone before it uploads, with a key only your passphrase unlocks, so we only ever hold the scrambled copy. A shared keepsake's key sits in the part of the link that browsers never send to a server. No ads, no trackers. Cloud data is stored in the UK, and you can lock the app with your fingerprint or face.

What’s new

- The subscription sheet now links to the terms of use and the privacy policy, and says plainly that a subscription keeps renewing until you cancel it.

- The app lock now behaves better around system screens: coming back from the camera, the photo picker, the payment sheet or a share no longer makes you unlock again straight away. Leaving the app properly still locks it.
