About this app

Aquifer is a quiet water intake tracker drawn in the visual language of a geological cross-section — the kind of diagram you would see on a hydrogeologist's wall. Horizontal bands of soil, clay and sandstone stack down the screen, and a groundwater table rises up through the lower porous strata as you drink. A thin well shaft drops from a small wellhead at the surface, the way a bore reaches down into the Great Artesian Basin.

The home screen is arranged differently from the usual tracker. Under the wordmark sits a COMPACT STATS STRIP — three sections divided by thin rules reading STREAK, WEEK AVG and MEASURES. Below it is the AQUIFER CROSS-SECTION HERO: the layered earth diagram described above, with the running total floating in a calm serif numeral in the dry upper zone ("1.24 L of 2.00 L") and a small "% WATER TABLE" chip beneath it. The lower strata are tinted with groundwater blue up to the day's level, and a bright water-table line marks the surface.

The part that sets Aquifer apart is the SPLIT below the hero. Instead of a full-width button bar, the screen divides into two columns: on the LEFT, today's log of measures runs as a scrolling list, each row introduced by a small droplet and a sandstone rule; on the RIGHT, a VERTICAL STACK of four quick-add buttons, each drawn as a layered core sample whose lower bands are saturated with water to show the vessel's relative size. The buttons sit right alongside the log — tap a core and the aquifer recharges, the water table climbs another notch. When the day's goal is met, a quiet green banner crosses below the hero: THE BASIN IS RECHARGED.

Tapping the strata icon opens CORES — the historical view. A 14-day strip at the top shows each day as a tiny core column, its lower bands saturated with groundwater, brighter on recharged days. Below it is a 30-day list where every day is its own core sample: a layered column saturated to that day's proportion of the goal, a RECHARGED badge in green when the day reached the target, the day's total in a calm serif numeral, and the count of measures.

The settings live in WELLHEAD — the field station above the bore. There you can:
- Adjust the daily recharge target in 100 ml steps (1.0 L – 4.5 L; or fluid ounces if you prefer)
- Switch units between metric (ml / L) and US fluid ounces
- Re-size each of the four core-sample vessels (Sip / Glass / Cup / Bottle)
- Toggle haptic feedback on button taps
- Toggle between Aquifer Depths and a limestone-pale day palette

The app remembers up to a year of entries on the device. There is no account, no cloud, no sync — everything you pour lives only on your phone. Records older than a year are pruned to keep the database small. The cores are yours to keep or to draw down.

Aquifer doesn't nag, doesn't send notifications, doesn't try to gamify hydration. It just gives you a quiet cross-section of the earth to recharge: a water table rising through the strata, a streak that grows by being kept, a row of past days with the recharged ones marked in green.

Recharge the table.
