About this app

The AskRail app is a hazardous materials safety tool for first responders who are first on scene or directly support the first on scene in the event of a rail incident. Access to certain features, including the ability to query rail car contents based on an equipment number, is restricted to authorized personnel.

To obtain authorization to use the restricted features, you must assert that you are a first responder, provide information about your emergency response agency, and identify a supervisor who can attest to your first responder duties. You also must obtain sponsorship from a Class I railroad. This process may take up to several weeks.

AskRail is a collaborative effort among all North American Class I railroads, the Association of American Railroads, Railinc Corp., and the Transportation Technology Center, Inc. AskRail for Android is FirstNet Listed.

Hazardous material data, guides, and contacts are derived from the current Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) published by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Have had this app for response reference with the FD and HazMat Team. Since the update I can't do anything with it. Uninstaller and reinstalled and now soooo many hoops to re-verify and re-register. Cant fill in half the areas to register. What a mess. Once they get it figured out I may reinstall. Good Info if you can get it to work. The problem I am having is registering again. It won't accept info or let me edit fields. I have already been verified when I used it before.

I've had Ask Rail since not long after it came out and it's had it's ups and downs. There have been phones it wouldn't work on, but works fine on an S22 Plus. Used for training previously but this April I used it on an actual derailment with leaking cars. Within 5 minutes of arriving we had 100x more information than we could have asked for. While downloading the entire consist took about 3 minutes on the app, it was well worth it. We were able to identify immediate hazards and act accordingly.

WILL NOT DEPEND ON THIS FOR EMERGENCY!!! What an awesome app when it started, now they are mismanaged and full of sloppy fixes. I dont log into this all the time and because of it I lost my account, use another email, use a different railroad to register. These are not fixes that work, I have wasted time trying and I'm done.
