About this app

ArabicTyper teaches you to read and type Arabic, from the first letter.

You start with alif. Seven short units cover the alphabet letter by letter. One covers tashkeel, the small marks that change a word. Eight more teach the most common words, and the last one everyday phrases and short sentences. All together that's 17 units and 36 lessons.

Each lesson shows you the new letters, has you find them on the keyboard, then has you type real words from the script, from Arabizi, and from English. In between you build words from letter tiles, pick meanings, and type what you hear. You can type on the app's own Arabic keyboard or your phone's. Words you miss come back in a review queue, spaced further apart each time you get them right.

A daily goal and one optional reminder keep you going. There are no accounts and no ads, and your progress stays on your phone.

What’s new

Settings has a new Rate ArabicTyper row, and after you've finished a few lessons the app may ask for a rating once. The app also records how long each typed word takes and how many wrong keys it gets, so we can see which lessons are too hard and fix them. Your lessons and progress stay as they were.
