Remember when chatting was fun? Y2K Chat brings back the feel of 2000s instant messaging, made for your real friends and nobody else.

Old-school chat with a Y2K aesthetic: the classic 2000s messenger vibe, rebuilt for your phone.

A buddy list that shows who's online, away or offline. Nudges that shake the chat window. Away messages. A chime when a friend signs in. Glossy emoticons. And when nobody's around, an answering machine that takes voice messages on tape. It's a private, ad-free messenger with the nostalgia of the early internet.

WHAT'S INSIDE
• Buddy list: see who's online, away or offline, with their personal message and what they're listening to
• Nudges: shake a friend's chat window, with a sound and a buzz
• Away messages: "Be right back", "At work", or your own words
• Sign-in chimes: hear when a friend comes online (mute anyone you like)
• Answering machine: nobody online? Leave a voice message after the beep, with a tape counter, hiss and rewind
• Circles: small group chats for up to 10 friends, and everyone agrees before someone new joins
• Original emoticons: type :) or <3 and watch them appear
• "is typing…", unsend within 10 minutes, and a classic glossy look

ONLY YOUR REAL FRIENDS
There's no search, no public profiles and no way for strangers to find you. You share your friend code or link, your friend adds you back, and you're buddies. Nobody else can message you.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Messages and voice messages delete themselves after 30 days (reported content is kept for safety review).
• Your data is never sold, and there are no trackers or analytics
• Block or report anyone with a long-press

OPTIONAL EXTRAS (off until you turn them on)
• Online when you're actually free: show friends you're online when you've recently used your phone, and away when Do Not Disturb is on, even with the app closed. Only the result is shared; everything else stays on your phone.
• Now listening: share the song you're playing, artist and title, under your name.

FRIENDS ON IPHONE?
They don't need the App Store. Send them your Y2K Chat link: they open it in Safari, tap Share and Add to Home Screen, and you can chat right away.
