About this game

*** This is a companion app for a board game. Please note that the physical game is required to play the game. ***

Deck Box Dungeons is a fantasy themed dungeon crawler with a companion app that fits in a deck box.

Each player builds their adventurer by selecting a character card, equipment card, and special abilities card. Builds can range from a standard stealthy rogue with daggers, to a mage that wields a greatsword. Players must work together to slay monsters, complete encounters, and achieve the goal of their quest. Each quest has a different goal, from escorting a priest to complete a ritual to killing a giant troll that has been terrorizing a nearby town.

This companion app handles the quests and encounters allowing for quick setup times and streamlined gameplay. Random encounters and quest generation provides variety and replayability even when playing the same adventures.

This is an app to a physical game, for anyone unaware. The game overall is a good idea. My complaint is that the rules are unfinished and unrefined. This came out in 2019 and there has not been an expansion. The community around it, who are all still confused by the rules, have done a better job maintaining this game. You have to spend $50 to play 4 players. I'll give 3 stars, because the app is good.

This is pretty bad. Bare bones and it doesn't save the next room you explore automatically or provide you with a way of altering the room. This means that if you exit the app accidentally (a likely thing if you're trying to swipe over to the digital rule book which also, bafflingly, isn't included inside the app itself) you'll erase your progress. This can be mitigated by exiting to the main menu every time you spawn a room but that doesn't change the fact that this is incredibly janky.

Love the game but... The random dungeons make playability endless but its lacking in overall content. Hasn't had an update since January and it wasn't much of an update. A lot of potential is here but honestly the IP should be sold or licensed to another company. Expansions with new enemies, PCs, etc etc could make this amazing. I cant justify giving a 5 star rating for this reason
